New Amazon and Greeting Card Scam

Scammers are constantly changing tactics, and this week we’ve seen two common scams resurfacing that are easy to fall for if you’re not expecting them. Both rely on creating urgency and getting you to click a link before you stop to think.
Below is what to look out for and how to stay safe.
“Amazon Refund” Text Messages
You may receive a text message that appears to come from Amazon claiming:
An item you purchased was recalled or defective
You are eligible for a full refund or replacement
You need to click a link to “confirm” the refund
The link does not take you to Amazon. Instead, it leads to a fake login page designed to steal your Amazon username and password the moment you enter them.
How to protect yourself:
Never click links in unexpected text messages
If you’re concerned about an Amazon order, open the official Amazon app or go directly to Amazon’s website
Remember: offers that sound too good to be true often are
Fake Party or Greeting Card Emails
Another scam making the rounds looks like an email invitation from services like Punchbowl or online greeting card sites. The message may:
Claim you’ve been invited to a party or event
Ask you to click a link to view the invitation
Suggest opening it on a computer “for the best experience”
Clicking the link can download malware onto your device, giving scammers access to your personal information.
How to protect yourself:
Check the sender’s email address carefully — official services don’t use random or personal email addresses
Be suspicious of instructions telling you to open a link on a specific device
Avoid clicking links in unexpected emails and report suspicious messages
