Cybercriminals are continuing to target Apple users with convincing phishing emails designed to create panic and urgency.

One scam making the rounds begins with an email that appears to come directly from Apple. The message claims that your Apple Account information has been updated and that someone used your account to purchase a new iPhone. The email then urges you to call a phone number immediately if you did not authorize the purchase.

Because the message looks official and involves a potentially expensive purchase, many people react quickly without stopping to verify whether the email is legitimate.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what scammers are counting on.

How the Scam Works

If you call the phone number listed in the email, you’ll be connected to someone pretending to be Apple Support. The scammer may claim:

Your Apple account has been compromised
Your financial information is at risk
Immediate action is required to stop fraudulent charges

From there, they may ask you to:

Provide banking or credit card information
Share verification codes
Give them remote access to your computer or phone
Install software that allows them to control your device

Once scammers gain access, they can steal personal information, passwords, or even money directly from your accounts.

How to Stay Safe

If you receive an unexpected email about an Apple purchase or account issue:

Do not call phone numbers listed in the email
Do not click links in the message
Instead, go directly to Apple’s official website or open the Settings app on your Apple device to review your account activity
Be cautious of unusual wording, grammatical mistakes, or odd formatting
Remember that scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure people into acting quickly

Taking a moment to pause and verify can prevent a costly mistake.
